Fiamoré Live at Dazzle Denver

Updated: Nov 11

On October 30, 2024 I had the pleasure of seeing Fiamoré live at Dazzle Denver for the second time. With most bands I see perform live, I usually have a good idea of what I might be getting into. However that was not the case for Fiamoré, as one of the highlights of seeing them live is that you don’t quite know exactly what you might hear as the night goes on. From soul and R&B to reggae, singer-songwriter, pop rock, and much more, they keep you on a compelling ride throughout their sets. As someone who really appreciates genre-bending and collages of different styles, this is a huge reason I would give to go see Fiamoré live.

To start off the night, they brought everyone in head-nodding to the great grooves laid down by Nate Tharp on drums and Chris Adams on bass. While they had some issues going on with the sound, everyone did a great job of keeping the motion going while the sound person scrambled to fix things on the fly. Once things were relatively dialed-in, everyone just continued bringing the heat. Ben Kane was sitting in with the band for his first time. If you did not know, it would have seemed like he had been playing with the band for years. He was nailing all the hits and adding the perfect comping and ornamental lines behind everything happening on stage. Great stuff!

Another highlight of seeing Fiamoré live is you get to see some awesome artists featured in their sets. This particular night they featured David Amaya, a long time friend of NAAV, the vocalist of Fiamoré. David played some songs with just him and his guitar. This gave a really intimate moment to the performance and everyone was dead quiet as David did his thing. Once he finished, the audience roared in applause. For the last few parts of David’s appearance, the band came back on stage and played one of his originals before David joined us back in the audience.

To wrap it all up, Fiamoré kept grooving and played some powerful covers and originals. Some of my favorite moments included NAAV singing over a unique drone accompaniment to start a tune, as well as hearing them tie together a song with Billie Eilish’s “Birds Of A Feather.” Overall, the whole performance was a unique and genre-bending experience. Outside of the questionable sound, their performance was nothing but good vibes, great musicianship, and engaging expression. As a musician and band leader myself, it was very inspiring to see my peers tear it up at the one and only Dazzle Denver. Great job everyone!
