On October 12, I got to see the kick-ass band Horse Bitch live at Cervantes’ Otherside. Since the first time we shared a bill years ago, I knew these guys were one of my favorite bands. Since then, they have changed members and have started building some steam through more shows and touring. Great to see them getting more and more recognition. After seeing their latest set, I can say they deserve every second of it and more.
You will never be bored at a Horse Bitch show. The songs and musicianship are great and keep you locked into this mix of country western, punk, and prog. All while they are dancing, jumping, and even falling down on stage. The passion for the show and the music bleed through everything. Everyone's vocals were loud and strong. Even with just the tambourine parts, Ashley was still giving engaging energy to the rest of the band and the crowd. There is not a dull moment at a Horse Bitch show. Great job everyone!
The unique aspects of Horse Bitch really stick with me. It's not every day you hear western licks, lyrics about Tinder, and pedal steel guitar all at the same time. However with full commitment and great musicians, it comes across seamlessly. I also enjoy when they decide to hit these abrupt and sudden vibe changes. The jump from two-step swing rhythms to punk and thrash elements really keeps you on your toes and ready for what is going to come next. One of my favorite parts in the set had to be when they used “fuck” as a chant to slowly build up this shanty-esque closer for one of their tunes. On paper this might sound crazy, but trust me, it's executed with conviction!
If you're looking for something original, powerful, new, and fun, I highly recommend you go see Horse Bitch live. They have shows coming up in 2025 so give them a follow on Instagram. They also have music out on all streaming services, and while the live show is its own experience, the recorded music is great as well.

I liked how this post kept things simple and didn’t try to sound smarter than it needed to. It’s the kind of write-up you can skim and still get the point, which I appreciate when I’m half-distracted. I ended up opening https://newimage.io/ halfway through just out of curiosity, and it gave me the same “straight to the point” feel. Nothing felt buried under walls of text, and the pacing stayed pretty easy to follow. Also, the way the ideas are separated makes it less tiring on the eyes, so you don’t lose your spot when scrolling. The page layout stays clean with clear headings and short blocks that are easy to scan.
